The IconOne Multisport Triathlon Swim and Run Skills Camp is designed to provide athletes and coaches of all levels a hands-on opportunity to analyze and develop skills for improved performance. The camp focus is on swim and run development as they relate to the sport of triathlon. Attendees experience 2 days of action packed practical, individualized attention.That’s 12 hours of pure awesomeness all about you!
Attendees can register as either an Assistant Coach (earning 9 USAT CEU credits) or an athlete. The two groups are kept together throughout the camp, but the experience does vary.
Assistant coaches shadow USAT Level III coach Shelly O’Brien as she guides sessions including assessment and testing, analyzation and application of key elements of swim and run mechanics. The goal is overall improvement is strength, performance, while maintaining health and prevent injury.
Athletes experience individual attention from Shelly and may also work with assistant coaches under her guidance. Video analysis is a key component of the skill analysis which then personalized suggestions are given for performance improvement. In simple terms…You will be asked to perform while smiling for the camera and given lots of homework!!
The registration fee is $249 for all participants including coaches

There are 2 classroom sessions and 6 practicums scheduled. A description of each is outlined below. Note the length and content of each is subject to change based on the experience and interest of the attendees.
Run Test and Video (90min Practicum)
Swim Test and Video (90min Practicum)
Athletes: Each will receive individual video in each sport that will be used for personalized feedback. Strengths and challenges will be discussed. The test are performance analysis for review and discussion.
Assistant Coaches: Will assist with testing and discuss individualized results with training applications for the attendees. Discussion of effective Video taping methods and associated skill assessment.
Run Video Review (90min Practicum)
Swim Video Review (120min Discussion)
Athletes: Each video is assessed and participants are given skill feedback and drill / exercise suggestions for performance improvement.
Assistant Coaches: Help with video analysis. Learn key areas of assessment and the applicable skill/drill work to correct common issues.
Swim Mechanics and Fitness Training (120min Practicum)
Athletes: Performance improvement suggestions made in the video review are addressed through applicable skill/drill work. All may be taken through the exercises together but those movements may be modified for the individual.
Assistant Coaches: Help with drill application and outline adjustments when needed. If coaches choose to participate in this session, they may be asked to demonstrate drills.
Open Water Swim Training (60min Practicum)
Athletes: No open water = no problem! You can prepare in the pool with specific training simulations. Practice sighting, drafting, starts, turns, and dealing with chaos.
Assistant Coaches: Help with drill set up, demonstration, and athlete execution.
Triathlon Specific Strength Training (75min Practicum)
Athletes: Did you know… the benefit of strength development exercises can be with little to no gym equipment? We will explore specific movements that can have a profound effect on performance.
Assistant Coaches: We may need to you demonstrate, assist individuals, or be partners. Be ready to participate!
